Etiquette Tips for Success

Greetings!  This week I'd like to communicate with everyone about the importance of Introductions!  Being in a room full of people you don't know can be quite uncomfortable.  So, it's your responsibility to get rid of that discomfort by introducing yourself.... if the host isn't mannerable enough to make sure his or her guests are introduced upon arrival.

When introducing yourself, follow these simple steps:
˜ approach the person with a smile
˜ give eye contact
˜ say, "Hello, I don't think we've met (smile), I'm ___________"
˜ extend your right hand for a hand shake
˜ say, "Nice to meet you"

If you're interested in starting a conversation with this person, simply ask questions like:
˜ so how do you know _____________ (the host)?
˜ do you live in this area?
˜ are you enjoying yourself?

You'll be amazed at how much you might find you have in common with that person as the conversation evolves!
On the other hand... if you are the host, make sure you don't put your guests in the awkward position of having to introduce their self to the group!  It is your responsiblity to ensure that everyone at your event becomes acquainted with one another so they'll have a good time with each other!

Until next time...

Sincerely yours,
The Manners Activist

Have you ever said to yourself, “I wish I could change……….…” or “If I only had larger or smaller…………..…….”? Having a negative body image affects all of us at one time or another. Unfortunately, because of low self-esteem or personal experiences, it haunts some more than others. But, even if you've learned to love your body and have come out of the “I wish” phase, mostly all women can sympathize with our girlfriends, daughters, sisters and mothers that still have to learn how to embrace, accept and love themselves. This article is for all my girlfriends who have felt the disappointment of trying on that pair of jeans that used to fit last year.

Inescapable media images of sexed-up girls and women posing as adolescents can cause psychological and even physical harm to adolescents and young women, a study in the US has warned.
