| Featured Ministry: Gospel Fest DC 2004 |
 |
Slated for June 5th, the purpose of the Gospel Fest is three fold. First, it is to bring together members of the Washington DC Gospel Community to celebrate each other and their music ministries. Second, the event is intended to highlight the outstanding work that many outreach programs are doing in the Washington DC and Baltimore areas. Third will be an annual fundraiser for scholarships for students in the Washington DC and Baltimore areas. Based on these goals, the Gospel Fest committee has selected the theme "Unity in Praise" for this annual affair.
Musically, the festival will be broken into two shows. The matinee show will feature seven choirs from the metropolitan area as well as several artists and groups. Participating Groups Include Bethel AME Church, Daniel Austin, Psalms Ministry Choir, Choir Boyz, Liberty, Mike White and Total Praise of Reid Temple AME Church, The People's Community Baptist Church, Southern Baptist Church, Hilton Felton, and the Celestial Voices of Lomax AME Zion Church. The show will end with a mass choir performance by the participating choirs with Daryl Coley. The matinee show will be hosted by Inspirational Comedienne Miss Claresse.
The evening show will also highlight several choirs from the area in addition to a showcase of local and up and coming artists, including John Stoddart, Duawne Starling, John Tillery & Living Sacrifice and more. This show will also close in a mass choir performance with Daryl Coley and also features a performance by Grammy award winner Regina Belle. Participants in the evening show include John Stoddart, Alyson Williams, John Tillery & Living Sacrifice, Glendale Baptist, Psalms Ministry Choir, Metro Praiz of Metropolitan SDA Church, Duwane Starling, Praise Inc., Power Trio, Choir Boyz and Liberty. | Charity Spotlight: World Vision |
 |
World Vision helps transform the lives of the world's poorest children and families in nearly 100 countries, including the United States. Their assistance extends to all people, regardless of beliefs, gender, or ethnicity. Driven by faith and in partnership with people like you, World Vision seeks to enable the world's children to realize their God-given potential by tackling the root causes of poverty.
Recognizing the prosperity that abounds in the United States, it is crucial that we all work to eradicate poverty one person at a time. Hiyaah Power is spotlighting World Vision to encourage readers to sponsor a child. Why not take it a step further and have your church or faith-based organization sponsor a child or family. Alms giving should not be considered dead in the 21st century. If we can spend $3.50 for a cup of name brand gourmet coffee, why can't we feed a village?

Hiyaah Power Inc. · 8647 Richmond Highway · Suite 609 · Alexandria · VA · 22309 | | Have you ever said to yourself, “I wish I could change……….…” or “If I only had larger or smaller…………..…….”? Having a negative body image affects all of us at one time or another. Unfortunately, because of low self-esteem or personal experiences, it haunts some more than others. But, even if you've learned to love your body and have come out of the “I wish” phase, mostly all women can sympathize with our girlfriends, daughters, sisters and mothers that still have to learn how to embrace, accept and love themselves. This article is for all my girlfriends who have felt the disappointment of trying on that pair of jeans that used to fit last year.
