Building Families, Inc. is a powerhouse organization founded and headed by Sandra Mizell-Chaney. Restoring families in crisis to wholeness and greater stability is a process and Building Families, Inc. work on behalf of families to help them reach their individual desired goals with the help of the community at large.
Sandra Mizell Chaney started Building Families, Inc., 501(c)(3) (formerly Abigail's House, Inc.) in January, 2001. At that time, Prince Georges County, MD provided limited services to victims of domestic violence. Being a survivor of domestic violence, Sandra began volunteering at a battered woman's shelter in Washington, DC and eventually became employed there. It was through her working experiences that she realized the need for additional services in MD, thus our organization was incorporated on February 12, 2001.
I joined Give N' Take Network approximately one year ago to tap into the networking frenzy created by marketing powerhouse, Simone Kelly. Kelly has empowered women across the country with the opportunity to participate in professional and personal bartering. According to Ms. Kelly, bartering is an effective networking tool because "[it]is an affordable way to get something you need in exchange for working it off with your service or product valued at the same amount. Even though no cash is exchanged, YOUR TIME is what you are paying with."
Many women cringe at the thought of attending networking events and talking with people who often times do not show the common courtesy of returning phone calls and emails or make good on discussions had during the event. Ms. Kelly said, "I was never too crazy about networking, because of what I've encountered at many events. They were either too corporate or some attendees were there for mingling and not truly serious about taking their business to the next level. So, I thought starting my own event would allow me to create the opportunities that we all needed in a comfortable environment. By developing a strong support system such as Give 'N Take-- I will help grow women businesses and empower many to turn their "side hustles" into their full-time careers!"

Have you ever said to yourself, “I wish I could change……….…” or “If I only had larger or smaller…………..…….”? Having a negative body image affects all of us at one time or another. Unfortunately, because of low self-esteem or personal experiences, it haunts some more than others. But, even if you've learned to love your body and have come out of the “I wish” phase, mostly all women can sympathize with our girlfriends, daughters, sisters and mothers that still have to learn how to embrace, accept and love themselves. This article is for all my girlfriends who have felt the disappointment of trying on that pair of jeans that used to fit last year.

Inescapable media images of sexed-up girls and women posing as adolescents can cause psychological and even physical harm to adolescents and young women, a study in the US has warned.
